me too. Although if I'd known he was going to play a modern benoni I would have said something else. I think that counts as getting hit by Anand's long term second in the 3. f3 anti-Grunfeld/ Samisch move order which Anand helped make popular a few years ago.

I think Mike Truran was the world's leading theoretical expert on this line in the 90s, but possible Wojtaszek has overtaken him.

Wojtaszek has had more sense than to allow himself to become CEO of the Polish Chess Federation.

1/4 final game 2 all drawn except Svidler loses, which surprised me as I thought this format would suit him

Nakamura - Dubov
Grischuk - So

Wei Yi - Nepo
Svidler - Wojtaszek
Nakamura one up after a win with black, other two games drawn.

Nakamura - Grischuk (Are we expecting 2 quick draws so as to get to the tiebreaks?)

Nepo- Wojtaszek

The other game is interesting; looking like Grischuk may win although he's behind on the clock as usual

EDIT; Grischuk wins to reach the final

He didn't need the tiebreaks, then!

Which is good, as he gets extra points in the GP

EXTRA!
GRISCHUK TAKES DOWN NAKAMURA
READ ALL ABOUT IT!

Alexander Grischuk defeated Hikaru Nakamura with the white pieces and is the first finalist of the Moscow Grand Prix.

Grischuk was better out of the opening and kept increasing the pressure until Nakamura blundered away the game.
