Well finishing on a lighter note:- when is it possible to castle with two hands, then win the game with no penalty whatsoever ?
If the castling results in checkmate as there is no need to press the clock!

Re: Two handed castling
The 7.5.4. is that it is incorrectly worded.
I wanted the term 'incorrect action' to be introduced. But this was democratically voted down.
So you get the absurd situation where a player touches his king with one hand and then rook with the other and castles using both hands. He then presses the clock.
The move stands. He should indeed be penalised. But how?
His opponent should get two minutes extra and the player loses if at any stage he makes or has made an illegal move, or illegal action.
Personally I would not punish an illegal action so harshly, but that is just a matter of opinion.

Hi,
"If the castling results in checkmate as there is no need to press the clock!"
If castling though check is not allowed then castling giving check or checkmate should also be prohibited.
Put it forward at the next FIDE meeting Stewart. Tell them if it is not accepted then we, Britain, will leave the E.U.

Not according to the current Laws as written because the two handed castling move does not become illegal until you press the clock and if its mate there is no need to press the clock.Reg Clucas wrote: ↑Sat May 25, 2019 8:39 pmUnless the player has previously already made one illegal move!E Michael White wrote: ↑Thu May 23, 2019 10:38 pmWell finishing on a lighter note:- when is it possible to castle with two hands, then win the game with no penalty whatsoever ?

The literal meaning of the law was probably unintentional. This is unlike other illegal moves where the mate does not stand if the move is illegal as in those cases its clear that the move is illegal before the clock is pressed but can be taken back until the clock is pressed. A simple rewording would fix the situation.

Re: Two handed castling
Stewart's suggestion of "incorrect" would cover it. So double handed castling isn't an illegal move but just an Incorrect one.

Re: Two handed castling
Think i’m gonna castle 2 handed now in every league game I play just for the “fun” of it. It’s not as if I can be a repeat offender in the same game.
