In fairness (to myself if no other), when I posted this, the relevant games had been 'silent' for some time. I assumed all parties had indeed resigned (as was plausible), but refrained from assuming that since Derakhshani - Arkell was clear but awkward; while Palliser - Howell seemed settled beyond redemption, but with play. In fact, I've learned subsequently (obviously) that there had been a break in the online 'feed'.David Robertson wrote: ↑Sun Jul 28, 2019 6:10 pmSlaughter of the GMs
As I write: Ward has lost; Howell is dead; Arkell is dead; Williams too
Of the eventual results? Well, I'm quite shocked by Palliser-Howell. 51 Rd5+ - whatever was Palliser thinking when 51 f4 seems so obvious? Richard will be banging his head off walls tonight, having outplayed Howell throughout. And Keith Arkell? Well, the win wasn't straightforward for even a talented youngster. So hat-tip to Arkell for hanging in there
