Maybe Merriman and Keetman will get drawn against each other in the next round?

Good to see we have a Graham - Thorpe pairing today. I'm hoping not to get a duck today...

This is worth a new thread - how about Moore - Payne?

Edit: Hmm - must have picked up the wrong entrants file, can't see them in the pairings for today.

There is a rather Kardasianesque potential pairing between a female player from Oz and a 1694 rated player.

I'll leave it to those interested to work out!!

OK, I'll bite.

Khoo-Thwe v Butt, although Khoo-Thwe's federation is Norway rather than Oz.
Ah, but I was so much older then. I'm younger than that now.

Half right. The first player should be Drastik.

I'm too old. I'm the Koo Stark generation.

Interesting game from Richard Bates, nice finish from Mark Lyell, and also artistic finish from Marc Bryant (who has done immense work for the tournament over the years)

Good stuff not limited to the above!

Round 3 Petrov vs Petrov, White vs Fryer (I'm sure you're all aware that Whitefriars are an Order of Carmelites)

Ray Kearsley vs Tim Spanton is a much-awaited clash. They frequently visit the same tournaments. Will Tim offer a draw to his much-revered senior fellow-traveller? (No - ed.)

But never more so than for this one.

I was trying to give up that style of chess, but that style of chess seems to have other ideas.

Nice finish for Richard Bates against Mark Hebden.

Ray Kearsley is probably frightening Tim Spanton on move 50.

Nice game Richard Bates. A bit wild Jack much like my own games. Nick nice finish with major pieces on the 7th.
