GQ piece on Carlsen, who, depressingly, claims:
hundreds of millions have played or play chess somewhat regularly
"Do you play chess?"
"Yes, but I prefer a game with a better chance of cheating."

Could you ask a better question?
"Do you play chess?"
"Yes, but I prefer a game with a better chance of cheating."

Intriguing if frustrating clip from a Soviet cartoon in this tweet. Isn't that a chess set at the start?

Re: Media comments on chess
The 7x7 board in the first cartoon was clearly NOT a chess board. Nor even a chess variant. I have never heard of a chess board with an odd number of squares.
The wonderful second cartoon on the other hand, even had the board round the right way.

Entropy (see viewtopic.php?f=46&t=10745) is played on a 7x7 board. I gave you a set some years ago.Stewart Reuben wrote: ↑Thu Apr 23, 2020 11:51 amThe 7x7 board in the first cartoon was clearly NOT a chess board. Nor even a chess variant. I think those might be knights and a bishop. I also think that cartoons don't necessarily depict objects in the way they appear in the real worldStewart Reuben wrote: ↑Thu Apr 23, 2020 11:51 amThe 7x7 board in the first cartoon was clearly NOT a chess board
