Kevin, You are correct. Less and less like a chessboard then.

They are playing 'Deep Sea Chess' on a 7 (the seven seas) by 6 (the six oceans) board.

The aim is not checkmate but to capture every piece.

White wins as Black cannot avoid losing their last piece. (space reserved for fish/chess joke which was too corny even for me)

Just out of curiosity I thought I'd google 'Deep Sea Chess' and there is such a site.

To judge from his grading record, the author has relatively recently returned to highish level amateur OTB chess after a long absence.

Chess, not Checkers NFL draft report from the Pittsburgh Steelers starts with

which I assume is the first time Bill has been quoted in an American Football Report, and later has

The NFL Draft can be likened to chess in a lot of ways. It's strategic. It's a game that rewards those who set themselves up nicely.

The Steelers played on the same board as everybody else, but used different pieces. Whether those pieces are of immediate value or not remains to be seen. However, Kevin Colbert and company may be yelling checkmate as early as 2021's offseason.

Good article Mick. The NFL Draft seems like correspondence chess.

My son misses playing in the British American Football League-maybe 2021 we will see some sport.

File under brief glimpses, but I was just watching series two episode five of the great French occult police series Zone Blanche (Black Spot) and when the inspector from the Department of the Environment, Delphine Garnier, is logging on to her computer, the wallpaper appears to depict a number of chess pieces.
