Not directly for me, but I can always get to it via a web proxy. For example, navigate to http://www.uk-proxy.co.uk/ and enter www.chessgames.com and it will forward you to the site. First connection is a bit slow, but it's not too bad after that.

(Incidentally, I'm not endorsing www.uk-proxy.co.uk , it just happened to be at the top of my search for a uk proxy server. All web proxies work in pretty much the same way and you may find a better one.)

Still nothing. I sent them an email two day ago. No reply.

Feel a wee bit guilty, they give me a free sub because apparently they liked my posts.
though it is not my fault, I can get on everywhere else.

If anybody can get on please advice them in the 'Kibitzers Cafe' some cannot get on.

I left a post about this in the Cafe yesterday. No-one's paid the slightest attention. A certain elective anorthograph is still able to put up his pseudo-rants and song lyrics, but one shouldn't be too cross about that, seeing he's had a rough time of it lately.

I've also had a bitch at them about the pop-ups that have just begun to appear every time you change the page. Somehow can't see that resulting in a free sub ...
"The chess-board is the world ..... the player on the other side is hidden from us ..... he never overlooks a mistake, or makes the smallest allowance for ignorance."
(He doesn't let you resign and start again, either.)

Proxy link above gets on to the site OK, but the actual games don't seem to be showing up on it :?:

Try with "Encrypt Page" and "Allow Cookies" as the only options selected in the uk-proxy page (below where you enter the chessgames.com url).

Odd behaviour can occur with proxies (especially free ones) though the above settings seem to work OK.

Thanks Lads,

But I am not going to faff about with proxy things etc. if they cannot get it working at their end.
It does appear to be the only site on the whole net I cannot get onto. (Carl sometimes wishes I could not get on here.)

It is a good site, I like it for raiding obscure historical games with some background stories.
Guess I'll just have to resort to making things up, which is what I usually do anyway.

Not missing it at the moment, I cannot get into these pish-posh online blitz/rapid games which
I've no doubt the punters there will be gushing and fawning over thinking they really matter.

Yes it's good as it is keeping the game going and the bods are making money but it's like listening to The Beatles at 78 RPM.

Posted a few days ago my report on the Kasparov 1963 simul and filled in the blanks.

3,000+ hits in 3-4 days(!) when this lock down is over it should calm down.

What, via a BT server with no proxy?

If so, that is encouraging.

I used this site to check - https://downforeveryoneorjustme.com/chessgames.com
That is a brilliant resource!
In a way, but since a lot of people as well as me cannot access chessgames.com directly it must in fact be a problem with them, must it not? Some name servers are updated but not others if they changed hosts?

I also checked chess-db.com but that is definitely down and probably that site has permanently gone?

Personally I rarely look at these sites because I have discovered too many mistakes with Blackburne and Steinitz game scores so I don't trrust them.

Yes, it reappeared an hour or so later.
