Thanks Mick. Cake was delicious. Hard to go wrong with something chocolaty! Maybe we will see some more pictures of cakes and cake stories on here in the future? Definitely extra kudos if anyone bakes their own!
I've shown this thread to my 15 year old daughter; she's declined the challenge of making one for my birthday, but I do have 3 weeks to change her mind

Good luck Mick!
I was intrigued by the ace photo Justin shared. A cake set out in the key position must be the perfect way to celebrate a famous victory! I found this article which as well as referencing Fischer's cake tells all about Chess Pie. (Complete with recipe!)

Presumably, on this cake, black moves first

I'm more concerned about the new Hippo eating it before my daughter gets up and sees it
My girlfriend, who made the cake, doesn't play chess but has done a great job with the cake

Happy birthday Mick.
Hope you have a good day.
Are the pieces edible aswell?
If so, I would go for the pawns on f2 and f7.

Happy Birthday today, Ben Graff.
Hope you get another chess themed cake like last year.
