Van Foreest - Grandelius
What on earth is that all about?
This is arguably stranger
Remarkably 4...Nf6 appears to be a TN!
I feel like this has been played quite a bit, just in Minors rather than elite events

Usually when the elite seemingly copy ideas from Minors, it's from the 1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. Bc4 Bc5 positions.

Carlsen has the sort of niggling advantage against MVL that he might turn into a win when he is in good form.

(right now, however.......)

Well yeah, but Black has *some* compensation.

I don't see the counterplay and think this will all be over rather quickly.

Admirers of the French Exchange will be pleased to see it make an appearance
Caruana obviously decided you can't have too many g pawns

The Caruana g pawns seem quite useful in fact. Not looking too good for Giri at the moment, as he seems worse against Anton, and van Foreest, Caruana and Firouzja all at least have chances.

Carlsen has beaten MVL whose performances in this tournament have not been of a standard befitting a player of his ability.

What are the playoff rules? I've hunted around on the official website but not found them.
