Imposition of delays seems to have gone out of fashion, but don't these spyware technologies suggest the use of transmission delays on live coverage? If sites like chessbomb, chess.com or chess24 are supplying live analysis, you don't want the players to have easy access to them during the game.

The spyware stuff is unsurprisingly quite advanced these days. You can even have two way conversations by having, for example, a necklace as well with a concealed button, one click for yes, two for no kind of thing.

Now also mentioned on the Chessbase Germany website with the surprising statement that some tournaments allow mobile phones to be brought to the board and left switched on so long as they are silenced - "At some tournaments, it is currently allowed to bring the mobile to the board to let Corona warn apps remain active. Candian, however, had forgotten to mute his mobile."

I'd like to see evidence to substantiate that claim. Even if true, it appears to be irrelevant for this tournament, whose rules say "Mobile phones and electronic devices are not allowed in the playing hall".
