When Neither Side Wants To Win
Just come across a link to this while visiting one of my regular websites. Might be an amusing diversion for some.
"The chess-board is the world ..... the player on the other side is hidden from us ..... he never overlooks a mistake, or makes the smallest allowance for ignorance."
(He doesn't let you resign and start again, either.)

Well, there is losing chess I suppose. I do believe Ivanchuk went into metldown during a game some time back and started playing it once, sorry can't quite remember the game, just that it wasn't pleasant. This was of course well before last year's rather traumatic loss of his to Naroditsky.

It seems to differ from "losing chess" in that captures aren't compulsory, kings can't be taken, and to "win" you have to contrive a selfmate.

No floods of tears at the end of the game then presumably?
