I was wondering the same thing. I haven't got fritz or any other engine running, but I'd prefer black in that game.

Black's got a bit more space, but White seems solid enough? What do the cybernauts say?

Dead level according to a quick check with Rybka, Fritz, Stockfish and Firebird. And the players seem to have reached the same conclusion.Paul McKeown wrote:Black's got a bit more space, but White seems solid enough? What do the cybernauts say?

A very decent result for Nick Pert. I thought he was better a few moves before the end, but after ....h4 even I can see why they agreed the draw.
Re: British Chess Championships 2010
Looking at the Keith Arkell's games yesterday and today, has he "bought" himself for a few quid a point in the "Who plays most moves during the Championship" spread betting market?!

I'm guessing they just placed the kings on the wrong squares, and Littlewood won.

Can anyone actually see what progress is being made in Haydon - Greet?

Edit - Greet it appears decided the answer was none and took the stalemate

Here's your rest day challenge...
"Do you play chess?"
"Yes, but I prefer a game with a better chance of cheating."

Re: British Chess Championships 2010
Just got back from a fantastic week in Canterbury. By four o'clock this afternoon entries had reached 895, better than Swansea, Great Yarmouth, Liverpool and just behind Scarborough and Torquay.
Want to thank Malcom Pein from his tremendous coverage in the Daily Telegraph. Buy the Telegraph this week if you want to read about events at Canterbury. What are the other papers doing? Jon Speelman has been writing in The Times about past British Championships - what's that all about?

Isn't it Ray Keene who does the chess column in The Times? Reproducing old games is nothing new for RK. It's much easier than bothering to find out what's actually happening in a current event.

I think you mean Ray Keene. Far be it from me to defend RDK but he has said that he will be covering this year's event this week. I guess the Times expect their copy a week in advance, unlike the Telegraph.David Gilbert wrote:Jon Speelman has been writing in The Times about past British Championships - what's that all about?
