If he does go on to win, then by my count we still have thirteen players who could potentially win the title (i.e. they're within two points of the leader). However, my guess is that Williams won't try to beat Adams tomorrow if Mickey is amenable to the draw. Simon's a fine attacking player, but he's also a professional.

Keiths opponent had a win on move 62, the plan should have been to move the second a pawn down the board sac the first a pawn, attack the bishop with the king and get the king to b1, something like c4 Bc3 a5 Bd4 a4 Be5 a2 Bh8 a3 Bd4 a1Q bxa1 Ka2 Bd4 Kb1

I still think there is some sort of underhanded pairing system here. Seven out of nine of Jacks opponents have been titled and, while he did really well at the start, it has been a war of attrition and the scoreline is low now. On the other hand, if you take somebody like Richard Bates, he has only had to play two titled opponents but is now sitting up near the top of the table.

Some might say it is luck, but I have watched people do pairings for tournaments and I am sure there can be fiddling.

But Jack is doing the pairings!

Just a consequence of the Swiss pairing system, I'm afraid Anyway when i beat Nick Pert, followed by Michael Adams, I might even be gaining a healthy chunk of rating points.

BTW, off-topic but I hope that the suggestion in the player survey that a future time control might be FIDE quickplay was a joke, or at least not applicable to the Championship.
