Schools Firewall Management

Post by John Upham » Fri Oct 01, 2010 3:32 pm

I'm looking for help from anyone familiar with how schools (state and private) outsource the management of their Internet firewalls.

For example, is this managed by a Government Department, a random quango or commercial organisations?

This line of enquiry is in connection with establishing on-line schools leagues.

I'm not aware of any central management for firewalls, ours comes from the LEA at the moment, we control outbound ports, they control inbound ones. We may shortly be moving to running one ourselves. I suspect the general pattern will be mainly local authorities, some BSF companies, RM, Ramesys, Capita or whoever and a few run by the school themselves.
