Unfortunately I'm having to cancel this congress. Sadly there just hasn't been enough entries to justify it going ahead.

How many entries have you got so far? It is quite common for most entries to arrive in the last two weeks, and you still have some time left!

I'm a little embarrassed to mention specific numbers. Even with a late surge of entries I don't think I'd have got anywhere near the number of entries required to break even.

This is not a congress that I would have chosen to play in, but, if I had intended to, I wouldn't have entered yet, because the entry deadline is not until 14 October, to avoid the late fee. Perhaps regular tournament organisers can comment on how the late fee deadline affects when entries are made?

Presumably you are now exposed to compensation claims from people who have already entered who may have incurred costs such as non-refundable hotel bookings.

It is not all gloom. In the Bournrmouth Congress last weekend they got 50 more than anticipated and increased the prize fund. They deserve every success for 2011 don't they?
