Re: Radio 3 Chess week
<bump>
Sunday Feature
Sunday 19 December
9:30pm - 10:15pm
BBC Radio 3
From King to Pawn
Novelist and occasional chess player David Szalay presents an examination of chess as a metaphor in literature and modern art, and how the powerful personalities symbolised by the pieces have embodied the ideals and beliefs of their time. The trajectory of the game itself has been from the palace to the laptop, and it is now most commonly played on computers or the internet. With Nigel Short, Dr Irving Finkel, Frederic Friedel, Marilyn Yalom, John Healy, Dr David Hopkins, William Hartston and archive interviews with Bobby Fischer, Boris Spassky and Dr Alekhine. With music by Arthur Bliss.

Re: Radio 3 Chess week
Not related to this, but couldn't think where to mention it
Last night's Sports Personality of the Year on BBC1, Mark Cavendish said he plays chess (amongst other games) to sharpen himself mentally for the decision making required at 60 km/h in his cycling sprints
Given he is the world's best sprinter in road race cycling and British (Isle of Man), might be worth some kind of marketing for chess using this?
