According to CJ, it'll be in the accounts

I will not take a single penny from the whole tour and as always, full accounts will be available for perusal upon completion. This is again a private initiative and is not under the ECF so everything, both positive and negative, is my personal responsibility (fault?)

There's a figure it won't exceed (which will be easily achievable unless the whole event is a disaster) but the expenses (I don't want to earn any money but I certainly don't intend to lose any as I've paid for all the hotels, travel and DVDs myself in advance!) are the first factor to ensure I'll ensure are covered.

The accounts will be available at the beginning of March as I leave straight from the final event to filming for another 9 days.

I'm happy with the thread's being in this section. The event is a private initiative, but it is a private initiative whose aims specifically include raising money for the ECF.

I did not meant to cause a major row about expenses or costs. It was just that CJ's comments seemed to volunteer a certain amount of information. Therefore I was just curious what Nigel was being paid as I had heard it was in the region of £1000 plus per event.

Which is a tidy sum considering that he was also selling DVDs etc on top. It is not my intention to upset anybody just my curiosity. However in this age of total transparency it would now seem rather strange to now back track completely.

That seems unlikely to me. One of the events is advertising simul places at £35 for juniors and £40 for adults, making a total of between £1050 and £1200 if all 30 places are taken. I can't see how that would be enough to cover costs if Nigel was being paid £1000.

If £1000 relates to anything maybe its the total the host organiser is paying CJ for the event, which would be split between all the things CJ has previously mentioned.

I appreciate people's interest or comment as to the privacy of the venture but as I've said, the accounts will be published upon completion.

Why is everyone obsessed with how much Nigel is being paid. It seems totally inappropriate to be disclosing financial matters to do with Nigel, I also can not imagine he would be happy with this unless it was part of the agreement.

To be fair Matt it's not everyone. For those that are curious, it could possibly be for the same reason that people are interested in how much of their charitiable donation goes to the cause, and how much is spent on admin.

The Short tour has been advertised as raising money for charity and for the British Championships which is a good thing (I assume). Chess players are sceptical creatures at best and my guess is some are looking for reassurance that a decent percentage of the money handed over actually goes to the advertised causes.

CJ is to be commended for initiating these fund raising exercises.
