I found it especially amusing when the female presenter innocently asks Kasparov, was Fischer playing 'mind games'?

It's Bobby, btw. Bobbie is (usually) a girls name

Please excuse my ignorance, but why is Bobbie considered female and Bobby considered male?Matt Mackenzie wrote:It's Bobby, btw. Bobbie is (usually) a girls name
is there something in gender in terms of 'ie' or 'y' that I'm not aware of?

Re: Kasparov on Bobbie Fischer
BTW, BTW isn't an acronym, merely an initialism. The distinguishing feature of an acronym is that it's an initialism pronounced as a word, such as NATO or OPEC. Acronyms may be written in all-caps or as normal words (although it's a good idea to have a consistent house style), non-acronym initialisms should be written in all-caps.PeterTurland wrote:And shouldn't acronyms be stated in capital letters BTW?Matt Mackenzie wrote:It's Bobby, btw.
