This does not indicate my approval of the show come dine with me.
However, my 4 would be the following.
Victor Korchnoi
Mikhail Tal
Nigel Short
and
Alexander Alekhine

i would invite nimzowitsch and give him tiny portions just for a laugh!
and then keep getting my fags out during the meal.

i was making reference to the story about him having some sort of complex about portion size and the 'threatening to smoke' story.Warren Kingston wrote:Why Nimzowitsch? I know, so you can have a go at him about that daft opening.
Mikhail Tal is popular
joking aside, i really would like to have a meal with him. i find 'my system' witty and interesting and he seems from the stories about him to be a fascinating and unique character.

Nigel Short
Tony Miles
Ivan Cheparinov
Gata Kamsky's father
Conversation probably wouldn't be sparkling, but I think it could be a fun evening all the same.

Make sure there's a partition under the table, or Short and Cheparinov would probably spend all evening kicking each other.Jon D'Souza-Eva wrote:Nigel Short

I can't be sure, but i think you might have missed the underlying reason why the evening would be thought to provide entertainment...Michael Jones wrote:Make sure there's a partition under the table, or Short and Cheparinov would probably spend all evening kicking each other.Jon D'Souza-Eva wrote:Nigel Short

I just wasn't quite sure that betting on the number of them who'd still be alive by the end of the evening counted as 'entertainment'Richard Bates wrote:I can't be sure, but i think you might have missed the underlying reason why the evening would be thought to provide entertainment...Michael Jones wrote:Make sure there's a partition under the table, or Short and Cheparinov would probably spend all evening kicking each other.Jon D'Souza-Eva wrote:Nigel Short

Lots and lots of excellent suggestions, but two chessplayers who I'm sure everybody would enjoy having dinner with are John Nunn and Graham Lilley. They both have an eclectic range of interests, so you'd be sure of an interesting conversation.
