Avatars are enabled on the AMCA Forum and have been since we started it. Not all users have given them self one. Check my posts for example. The Avatar is

I think that avatars which relate to a member's standing in the chess world e.g. a club or county logo or badge, should be allowed. That way, they add to the profile information supplied.
I don't see any need for smileys on a board of this nature - to be honest, the only one that I can think will ever be appropriate in a post is the 'rolling eyes' one whenever Ilyumzhinov drastically shortens FIDE time-limits.
Signatures just get in the way.

Not the best no but all I had time to lookup yesterday to be honestGreg Breed wrote:Hi all,
If the only avatars are hats then you might as well turn them off. They are a bit cack aren't they?
If you stipulate an avatar size then you can allow whatever people want.
Let me know what you want added or provide a link to something more suitable
Image size is 80x80 pixels maximum as mentioned above
Or email me whatever you require
Cheers
