I'd like to thank the tournament website for trying to give me a heart attack by posting a headline on their site alleging that four of the English GMs hadn't registered and would therefore not be included in the draw. Completely untrue as it turned out they had registered several hours earlier :?

And happily no defaults. In fact, having seen zero defaults in action now, it's nowhere near as bad as I had feared it would be.

Would you consider it at an e2e4 event?

No, it's unnecessary for us.

But for a major event with sponsors present, players staying locally etc, I have seen that it can actually work. I was fearful beforehand, let me tell you!

I am sure that sponsors expect to see (and are pleased to actually see) two players at every board at the start of play!

Do they announce five minutes to start time etc as seems be the case at most FIDE governed events?

There was also a great result for the Scot Clement Shreeves (2125ish) against the Italian GM Daniele Vocaturo (2564), he won

The results of the Scottish players can be followed here: http://chess-results.com/tnr45941.aspx? ... -1&wi=1000

I'm very pleased they don't use accelerated pairings as it gives players like Matthew and Clement and Terry a chance to play and take points of the GMs.
