Ben Your team would have substantial ability if there behaviour and "chess Ethos", had improved .i.e. not staying up all night consuming alcohol and so fourth.
Maybe this year will be different.
Matt.

My players seem pretty happy with me as a captain, for example they don't ring me up and threaten me in the middle of the Night.
So I do something correct it seems.

In my experience, with the exception of university sides, very few. In the teams I played for at most one or two (reduced by one when one of the players dropped out of the age bracket recently). If one is young enough, one doesn't need to show an awful lot of interest to find oneself asked to join committee/get involved in organisation.

2 members of Darlington chess club last year were under 21 one was under 14 that is not a bad ratio for a club membership of 23.
In the near future we hope to put a junior team in one of the three leagues we play in.
I am speaking here for myself and not the NCCU which i am now president of

For most of this year, I have been the second oldest on the 3Cs first team in the Manchester League, at 35. With the eldest being the main coach of all the younger players, and the rest all being juniors brought through the club, it is an average age of about 27, if anything this average age has been increasing over the years, due to 5 of the players would have played in the first team over 10 years ago

Such figures for the Coventry League would be skewed by the presence of a university club; outside that club, there are two.

No idea, our club didn't have a team in the top division last season.
However, as it is in East Devon I would hazard a guess at not many.

If its a choice at 4ncl between improved results or staying up all night drinking, it's the latter every time for me.
