Good luck to the team!

My daughter, Imogen representing Wales at U11, is also with the group and her mum is Head of Delegation for Wales.
Lovely that they're all together and best wishes to them all.
Wish I was there.

The party went in two groups and I've spoken to Sabrina and my wife and daughter, and everyone has arrived safely.

Sadly not all the luggage arrived safely and so we are currently minus one bagAndrew Camp wrote:The party went in two groups and I've spoken to Sabrina and my wife and daughter, and everyone has arrived safely.
Round one pairings will be published at 15:00 today with the games to start at 15:30. We are two hours ahead of English time.
We are assured that for future rounds the pairings will be available the night before.

Hopefully Callaghan slows down when he plays! Will they post the results today? I heard it is hot over there!

According to the website, they are using FIDE's zero time default rules. Let's hope everyone's seated at the board.Peter Turner wrote:5 minutes to the first moves!

Does anyone have the link to watch live? I can't find it on the website... It says "under construction"

Re: World Schools Chess Championships 2012
Zero default time!! FIDE rule makers can have never been to their own Junior Championships. I have never known a Round 1 start on time, not unusual to be an hour late. Certainly a big responsibility for the coaches, managers, parents etc to assist the players finding their boards - fingers crossed.

That was a much asked question at the venue in the half hour leading up to the start timePeter Turner wrote:Has anyone found the pairings?
Play started about twenty minutes late and board numbers were being put out in the minutes before the start time. Thankfully the games are underway, albeit with a surprisingly large number of defaults despite the late release of pairings.
England are on 2/2 thanks to no shows. I hope that pairings and results will be posted to the official site but there will be a 24 hour delay to results appearing on chess-results (allegedly).

Re: World Schools Chess Championships 2012
Oh Lawrence! What a pity for our 2 players, lot of money to participate then no game in round 1. Surely team managers have to verify their players before the start, if the start was already delayed I wonder why it wasn't delayed a bit longer to re-pair where neccessary. I hope the defaults were not from local players who just didn't bother to turn up.
Thanks for finding time to get information on the forum.

There is an implied requirement to do this because the regulations say that the passports of all players have to be shown to the organisers on arrival, to prove that the player is eligible for the age group they've entered.Peter Turner wrote:Surely team managers have to verify their players before the start

Re: World Schools Chess Championships 2012
The pairings are now available on the official site http://www.wscc2012.ro Not sure how accurate they are, all our payers have opponents and now we know not all showed up and some have opponents who are not on the list of entries I printed out yesterday. Hopefully things will be more organised for the second round.
