Sniper Scores 7/7 - Zollner trophy and qualify for Champs!

Post by Charlie Storey » Sun May 06, 2012 11:24 am

Hi Guys,

I'm getting a bit bored with promoting the Sniper!

I just scored 7/7 to win The Northumberland County Chess Championships and qualify for the 2012 British Champs.

I played all games with either a Black or White Sniper to score 100% with a rating performance of 240 ish.

I think I have proved the awesomeness of The Sniper.

Wow, Well done Charlie! 7/7 is a fabulous score.

If you get graded 240ish, you will go up to the top 10 or 15 in the ECF list!

Only played 10 ECF games with 9.5/10 need to play another couple of good tournaments to ensure 240ish.

Will be looking to play a couple soon. Gonna keep playing Sniper for entire season then change! Its been a 4 year obsession and I need a holiday!

The Sniper may be good enough to win the county championship but I fear to win the British - even on home ground - it will be necessary to develop a more devastating opening system as everyone will be ducking the Sniper. I suggest the name Reaper (as in the US military's drone of the same name) for the new system. The opposition won't know what hit them.

Charlie, hope that is just a diversionary suggestion to fool the opposition. You know that secrecy is the watchword of all successful ops. Anyway, IM Basman may have already tried that line without much success. (At least it should be c4/5 then g4/5, Bg2/g7...)

The Blue Oyster Cult variation refutes The Reaper, I believe. Or renders it harmless.

Have heard from an anonymous source that Louis Theroux is anxious to interview current or past members of the cult with a view to a TV documentary.

Thanks Austin - 1st time I ever got a 7/7 and Yes it will be interesting how it fares against the best in the UK - however, I've already beaten Jonathon Rowson with it in a fide rated event (is not on the databases) so it will be hard to fear any of the current crop who enter the British!
