One of the parents asked for some butter at the evening meal to go with her bread and was told she would have to pay as it's not included in the full board deal On asking how much this sought after commodity would cost it transpired that none of the waiters knew Eventually one of them was able to provide us with an answer. Next time I have to ask for cutlery I'm half expecting to be told that it will cost me!

Nice to see James Moreby's game in R8 featured on the ECF website this morning - mind you I'll pretend to be cross with him art school next week for missing 22 Ne6+. Probably Sabrina has already pointed this out to him?

James just turned 9 in December, i.e year 4 at school, but suffers by having to play at U-11. I'm sure he's not the only one of the England team to fall victim to the British system of starting the school year in September!

So it's all over. Thank you so much, Loz, for all your reports of the results. Thanks too to Hillary for her splendid commentaries that have added so much to our enjoyment of the event. Also to the unknown photographers who have provided so many enjoyable pictures of the England players. Whilst I never found any England players on the live games when i looked, the Romanian website too gave excellent coverage - all the results and next days pairings by 7.00 in the evening here in England. And all the game scores on the same day. Obviously the photographs on the Romanian site were less concerned with the English players, but the two videos that they took of the blitz tournament must have included everybody who was taking part.

All in all those of us in England were given a really comprehensive account of what went on. Congratulations to all those who took part, players, parents, coaches, organisers, selectors and especially to Phil Ehr, in his new job, getting so many people involved.

As one of the coaches and head of delegation I'm happy to say that the players, coaches, parents (plus Pheobe's older sister) and the extra Remus-Elliot siblings all helped to make the trip extremely enjoyable despite a number of problems involving accommodation, food, (including being asked to pay for butter at an evening meal!), illegal moves and overly aggressive members of the organising committee.
