What would you like????
I used "Red Hot Pawn" chess site which has a great forum with different areas for chess, some for sport, politics, and one for general stuff. Carl (the super Mod) needs to know what you would like in the ECF forum. If its just Chess, Chess and Chess thats fine, but if you want more to attract more members then say so here.
So the question is what would you add to the forum?

Re: What would you like????
Ah, "red hot pawn", that used to rile my old teachers up beyond belief...!
I don't think discussion of anything other than chess related matters on a chess forum is appropriate really, and politics just drive me insane...
Nice thought though

There must be something you like other than chess, but having said that I only do chess of late. So you may be right. I like the idea of a General (other than chess) Stuff forum, but thats just me.Nigel Wright wrote:Ah, "red hot pawn", that used to rile my old teachers up beyond belief...!

Re: What would you like????
I do agree that it would be nice to have a section for other than chess chat, ie football, which I am madly in love with, but is it right to have it on a chess forum? If people start talking about football etc. on this forum, it may make the forum look popular and well used, but would it not possibly cause the chess matters to be neglected slightly? Just a thought...

Re: What would you like????
It kinda follows on from the "only ten of us Post" thread, in Red Hot Pawn its other forums complement each other and get more people posting, but its up to us to convince that it couls be an idea to keep people interested, Red Hot Pawn is a chess only site with other subjects in its forum. I'm not advocating the idea I just want a debate on if it would keep people posting.Nigel Wright wrote:I do agree that it would be nice to have a section for other than chess chat, ie football, which I am madly in love with, but is it right to have it on a chess forum? It could have a Bridge or Poker section. These things seem to be played by chess players also.

A sort of "Other Games Section" Something for Super Mod to think about. I only like Rugby League outside of Chess so I wouldn't go for it, but the idea has merit.Greg Breed wrote:It could have a Bridge or Poker section. These things seem to be played by chess players also.

I am not sure regarding anything outside of Chess to be honest, although the Bridge element does have some merit
I await more support/thoughts for now...

Talk is cheap, if theres a good idea in this thread, it might just be of benefit. Keep 'em coming.Carl Hibbard wrote:I am not sure regarding anything outside of Chess to be honest, although the Bridge element does have some merit

Re: What would you like????
Maybe someone (other than Carl, unless he really, really wants to...) could create a new forum, specially for us ECF forum members for the purpose of social banter?

Maybe, but Yorkshire Bitter is better. See I knew this was a good thread. See where it goes before deciding.Carl Hibbard wrote:I am tempted, although I have had a rather large amount of lager

You can't beat lager, unless it's something that gets you so drunk so quickly that you don't know what you're drinking...

Chess and Beer goes well together...
Maybe it's a coincidence that a lot of chess venues are pubs or sell alcohol? Or maybe not...
