Excellent to see such a degree of transparency from the new members of the board. A marked constrast to the previous regime.

Re: Have your say to the Chief Executive
If anyone is playing in one of the following upcoming congresses, I'll be around if you'd like to say hello, ask about the ECF or give me feedback on what we're up to:
29-30 January: Dudley (Spectrum)
5-6 February: Kidlington
12-13 February: Warwickshire (Knowle)
4-6 March: Exeter
See my blog post, "SAD or what?" http://englishchess.org.uk/farthing/ to learn why congresses around this time of year support my claim to be the chess-playing equivalent of Punxsutawney Phil.

June to October is probably the time when most league players are out of practice. Since you keep your eye in throughout the summer, perhaps this gives you the advantage against players playing their first games in a few months? By October, most league players are back in form, and so your advantage disappears.

Re: Have your say to the Chief Executive
Perhaps, but almost all of my games from June to October are in congresses, so arguably I'm just playing against other all-year-round veterans of the weekend circuit. Also, it wouldn't explain why my results pick up again in February.Alex Holowczak wrote:June to October is probably the time when most league players are out of practice. Groundhog DNA still seems the most plausible explanation.

Re: Have your say to the Chief Executive
I really appreciate the invitation. I'm afraid that the Essex congress coincides with the Cotswold congress in Cheltenham. The latter is only about 30 miles away from my home in Worcester, and with petrol prices being what they are, I can't afford to ignore an event that's virtually on my doorstep (there aren't many!).David Brock wrote:Have you thought about playing in our Essex Congress over the Whitsun Bank Holiday 28th to 30th of May 2011.
