My attitude of drinking etc at the board cost me my aim, so I guess giving that up is first lesson

I don't know about anyone else, but I have a certain stereotypical image of chess players.

So when I see a certain type of opponent, I think "wow, he must be good".

Which may explain my appalling record vs players younger than me (=1 -2).

Well I had very unofficially heard that Callum Kilpatrick came out as 243 and Felix Ynojosa as 237, which although they are very promising, is patently ludicrous. After all, I beat them both reasonably recently, and I'm a patzer! Whoever dreamt up these new grades was living out a Hieronymus Bosch type of reality, either that or they were on the wacky.
