Time again for the

COUNTDOWN Conundrum

'NONEOFYOURFINBUSINESS'

Rearrange to form a well-known phrase.

Clue: Something to do with fee enquiries

Perhaps it should be in the public domain :?:

Especially for a specific contract that was awarded with no invitiation to tender

Well then I have to refer you to the ECF Board for a specific answer. It is plainly ludicrous to ask, in effect, an employee to disclose a fee. It is rude and invasive.

I don't think FIDE does really supply it (detailed results) for free.

FIDE charge each national federation eg the ECF a membership fee

and

For each game rated a fee to have the game rated, what you might term a game-rating fee. At present it's a relatively modest amount presumably to cover the costs of running and administering their ratings server. The recent proliferation of FIDE rated tournaments in the UK has been in part because the ECF made a decision not to pass on the costs of FIDE rating to the organisers. Whether this was affordable given the ECF's difficulties remains to be seen.
This is allied to my misunderstanding of Carl's suggestion. I thought that you would have to be a paid member of the ECF to have access to all records, not just everyone being able to see the graded games of ECF members.

Anyone can see detailed results of FIDE rated games for free. For example, here are your results in the Berkshire & Buckinghamshire Congress. Here are your results in two other recent tournaments. You can repeat that process for most recent rating periods.

Presently, a non-player can see the FIDE-rated results, but not the ECF-graded results.

Yes of course it's ludicrous, I was just wondering who would point this out to John first :)

Come on Andy, you and John have to work together on getting the CoM working, it is not going to go well if you keep calling him rude and invasive.

Andy,
You might also like to take a look at the ECF accounts there aren't any items under the manager of coaching other than the Certificate of Excellence. The Junior Accounts are more interesting though, £5,129 for the Right Move Magazine. That seems quite a lot in the current climate.

Something for the financial recovery plan - does the bimonthly ChessMoves have any ongoing value especially as a printed document?

It's mostly produced from the Office, so there's no separate account of its cost.

There are a number of chess professionals in this country, but how many live in large houses and drive expensive cars compared to their equivalents in the city - it would tend to suggest that as whole they are not in it for the money.

After divorce and with 4 kids, I am lucky not to be living on the pavement.

Matthew, following your argument through are you suggesting the Right Move be scrapped?

Andy,
The Right Move is very good, but the ECF is in a pretty deep financial crisis - can we afford it? Could the money be better used elsewhere? Does anybody know, or could anyone estimate how much does the Right Move cost per reader? Does it (or could it) bring in any revenue?
These are tricky questions, but we have to be honest about where the money is coming in and where it is going out.

Is it ever printed?

£400 (or so...) a month seems a lot?

Well, the idea is that the Right Move be paid for in the future by revenue gained from the Certificate of Merit. This was reported at the AGM.

I am very aware of the urgency of the situation.

£ 400 or so seems a lot ? It takes a long time to produce. Thanks for uploading it here.

Andy,
You're right about the urgency. I think you need to get John to unsuspend the CoM PDQ.
