Matt - I'm not saying they're teetotallers (although those sensitive to £60 tournament entry fees are less likely to fall into the 'big spender' category) but alcohol consumption per person can be predicted to be less than at a chess tournament than, say, at a wedding reception.Matt Mackenzie wrote: ↑Thu Aug 29, 2024 3:06 pmReally? I’d say it’s only sensitive it the tournament has nothing else going for it. Most of us I’m sure would all play if the Venue and location was great.Roger Lancaster wrote: ↑Thu Aug 29, 2024 5:25 pmMatt - I'm not saying they're teetotallers (although those sensitive to £60 tournament entry fees are less likely to fall into the 'big spender' category) but alcohol consumption per person can be predicted to be less than at a chess tournament than, say, at a wedding reception.Matt Mackenzie wrote: ↑Thu Aug 29, 2024 3:06 pmReally? I should add. Iv watched and read all that comments. It’s good to see good debate. Mostly respectful. What we want is value for money. And happy to pay more if it’s worth it. Decent prizes should be important if you have a poor event and location. Just my opinion. But don’t start charging £60 entry when you have low entrants. Bad venue. Bad location. And nothing going for your event. That was my main point.
