I know there people wanted to play OTB chess but you are seeing that some areas are reaching to very high levels and you do have to understand that there is a virus out there?

It depends on the perceived/real level of risk, depending on mitigation measures.

We all did that before the covid outbreak. After all, very few decided to avoid tournaments due to flu concerns, even though it kills a significant number of people every year and is highly contagious. It's because the risk was deemed acceptable.

Now we have a much more serious virus, but if mitigating factors bring the risk down to an acceptable level, why not go to a tournament?

A socially distanced tournament could well be less risky than going to a hairdresser, a shopping mall, school or a restaurant.

Krakow - possibly going ahead. The Polish language entry form has been published, but the foreign language ones haven't been. No other information available as far as I'm aware.

The foreign language entry forms are now available, so presumably the tournament is going ahead. There's nothing that I've found stating whether there will be any restrictions or precautions in place for coronavirus.

The fact that you can get vaccinated against flu might have something to do with it.

Reading through this article; it says it was an extensive study, but they didn’t ask the patients concern whether or not they had a pre-existing lung condition

I would have thought that would have been the first thing to ask

You can get from Brussels to Prague in under a day and tickets are usually available for under £30. (I was thinking of going that way myself next time I go to Prague).

I did hear about a journey from the UK to the Czech Republic taking 47 hours by bus by an otherwise stranded chess player. On the bright side it wasn't overly expensive.

Another article today mentioning ‘long Covid,’ which suggests there’s 60,000 people in the UK who have suffered with Covid for more than 3 months.
