Dangerous Moves : the film (La Diagonale du Fou)

Post by John Upham » Sun May 17, 2020 12:22 pm

I'm attempting to watch the 1984 film "Dangerous Moves" (La Diagonale du Fou) but am struggling to locate it.

It is not on Amazon Prime or Netflix (unsurprisingly).

The final five minutes are on YouTube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k5EJTJMASQI

It won the Best Foreign Language Film Oscar in 1984.

The DVD is available from Amazon.

Have you watched it ? Is it a good film in your opinion ?

Not seen it but there was another French film made about chess around the same time. I do know where that one was located, translated the title is 'Paris or bust'.

It was possible to see it in French (that is, without English subtitles) when I wrote this, but no longer.
"Do you play chess?"
"Yes, but I prefer a game with a better chance of cheating."
