Re: Dynamic Defence
I hadn't heard of this reviewer and looking on the website noted that there are pictures but no description of any of the reviewers. Background is sometimes helpful, not least because their rating or other chess experience might have a bearing on the review.
It might also be interesting if reviewers were able to suggest what the target audience of the book might be. In this respect (and of course others) I find that Richard James writes some of the more illuminating reviews that are published. I get a sense that Richard has tried to interact with the book, which is less apparent with others.

I agree with Jonathan. Also, and I'm sorry to be critical, I think the current review (as well as the quoted book blurb) would have benefitted from some sub-editting.J T Melsom wrote: ↑Mon Jun 20, 2022 6:39 pmI hadn't heard of this reviewer and looking on the website noted that there are pictures but no description of any of the reviewers. Or even "sub-editing"!
I assume it is the Tony Williams who used to play at the top of the Woking team? He was graded over 200 when I played him in the late 70s.

I played Doug several times in the London League and Thames Valley League during the previous century.

Off topic but >>>
Tony Williams is Simon's older brother.
He has the unusual distinction of - along with Nigel Short and Danny King - appearing on the front page of The Times for playing in a simul against Karpov:-

(if you want a closer look of the actual newspaper you can click on the image and it should move in).
I seem to remember Simon telling me one time that Tony was about 200 ECF before stopping playing serious chess.
