Alan Gravett 1948 - 2024

[Kevin Thurlow]

Alan resided in Gibraltar and played regularly there and in Guernsey. He was always a tough opponent but an affable one, always ready with a friendly smile and greeting. He suffered a short illness and died in April this year.

Very sad news. Played Alan at least 6 times. All were draws

Sorry to hear this. We were members of the same club (Knutsford, now defunct) back in the early 1980s, and also worked for the same company (Barclays). We played each other a couple of times in the Barclays internal congress, for which we used to get days off work and travel expenses. Such generosity by our employers was terminated after various financial crises.
