Without wanting to be too critical of a guy who's about a million points higher rated then me, can anyone explain Howell's 10. Kf1 in his first round game at Biel?

Probably not. This is what ChessBase (http://www.chessbase.com/newsdetail.asp?newsid=6529) had to say about it - "This move is close to incomprehensible, and one is forced to wonder whether the player didn't accidentally let go of the piece while intending to castle. Needless to say, the usual move here is 0-0."benedgell wrote:Without wanting to be too critical of a guy who's about a million points higher rated then me, can anyone explain Howell's 10. An attempt at castling manually while keeping the rook on h1 in order push the h-pawn? It strikes me as rather slow compared to the normal 0-0 and f4-f5.Ian Thompson wrote:Probably not. Is it too late for David to withdraw and enter the British instead?
