Web League Match Reporting and administration

Post by Malcolm Peacock » Tue Oct 26, 2010 8:42 pm

My web based system for input of league match results and league table update has undergone a further upgrade this season: http://www.popmalc.org.uk/sc/?q=node/43

It is now a module (plugin) for the drupal (http://drupal.org) content management system, and has the following features:

* Allows team captains to login and update match results to which they have been given access. Players are selected from predefined drop down lists.
* Can be used for Team Leagues, Team knockouts, Individual Swiss, Individual All play all.
* League tables are updated automatically
* Administrators login to define the league structure, events, teams, number of boards etc.
* Automatic generation of file for ECF grading
* Automatic League Fixture generation taking into account dates to avoid and teams to avoid clashes with.

I originally only set out to write something for my own use to input match results for grading because I didn't like the ECF's offerings, and since it was web based, I then got captains to update their own match results. The integration with drupal this year means that clubs can now update their own contact and venue details, and it can be configured pretty much how you want it.

I'm just wondering where to go with it now, and if anyone else is interested in using it (or helping to develop it further). Another league could be added to the existing instance, or other instances could be created. Its become another hobby for me, like chess from which I don't expect to make any money, but since I've put the effort in, I might as well make it available to others if they are interested.
