Quite so. Also very noticeable that Roger is often first in the queue for answering people's obscure questions of chess fact or history. It may have got the result without sacrifice of power but has it got everlasting internecine warfare between factions on the board because it is not a democratic organisation

What exactly does that mean? What is this ECF that has got what "it" wants? It is a membership organisation so if "it" has got what it wants then presumably the membership has got what it wants. But I don't think the membership has. I think those who like having power have got what they want. Quite what they want that particular power for I can not imagine. Meanwhile ordinary chess players playing chess on a Saturday afternoon in musty church halls in deepest Oxfordshire can only watch on in bewilderment while the various factions on the board/council pull themselves apart with their persistent politicking... and for what?

Roger, given that you also post regularly on other Forums, I do sometimes wonder how you find the time to play and organise chess, or whether you do anything else with your life.

Ditto. Some great posts in there among the large pile. He does overdo it on the membership topic at times, but that is the price of free speech... Making his 10,000th post on that topic was hilarious.
