If David is at Universtity, then it is likely to be Bath. I'd like to see him lose today - sorry David, but it would be fantastic to have an English winner of the Classic.

According to the bio in the programme for the London Chess Classic, it's Cardiff. Quoting the programme it says "his father Martin is of Welsh extraction"

Just started watching the games, and Anand- Kramnik has already finished?! Bit disappointing given the current standings...

Looks like, barring a surprise, Carlsen's got this wrapped up.

Perhaps the most disappointing thing is that one wonders whether Kramnik would have played the same way today even if had won yesterday.

Carlsen does look on course, and I like Adams' position, which I think bears out what I said earlier - Adams clearly sensed the possibility of a win in this game (he does not always play the Marshall gambit, but probably thought he could trust Naka not to play down a drawing main line). I simply don't know about Luke' position.

You would get very good odds on the latter :D
I cannot get the Short game to come up but am I getting closer to success?

No, Short is a pawn down, and Carlsen has a dangerous Q-side pawn majority.

Kramnik was unwell according to Malcolm Pein. The arbiter brought him Immodium during play. Anand apologised for the game and joked that had he known about Kramnik's illness he would have played a very slow d-pawn opening.

Howell does look better against Mcshane. As Matthew says, it would be a waste though, if he won - he would even remain in seventh place! * But the organisers of the LCC might privately be happy that their scoring system will effectively be "let off the hook". No one would object to Carlsen being declared winner on tie breaks over Anand (due to colours) on any scoring system, so the classical v 3-1-0 issue will rather drop from the picture.

* Of course this wouldn't happen in "some" countries

the game or the whole tournament?

(Didn't he even finish last last year? someone on the website said that Ni Hua did but I think that was wrong).

draw then - objectively Luke cannot complain. And if he is happy to have avoided defeat, perhaps he will be in the right mood for the blitz play off with Anand for second place?

Did anyone get any norms in either the Open or the Womens Invitational?

Adams is still in with a shot here - If I were nakamura I might try and trick him into winning an exchange to get rid of those pesky bishops and be able to shove the extra pawns forward to victory, then again it could just lose.
Lose one queen and it is a disaster, Lose 1000 queens and it is just a statistic.
