With Wells and Howell as the players? Surely not.
When I did my arbiter training 25 years ago, I trained on Wells games.
Do the would-be arbiters of today train on Howell games?

Perhaps a well-timed Qxc5 when Black's king and knight are far enough away from the b-file?

I think Short can win, but I am getting less convinced by Adams, it looks like he is really messing it up to me.

Hunt-Pert looks quite interesting. Any idea what the situation is there?

And the Wells-Howell position has blown up, unsurprisingly.

Cursory glance I'd say Pert looks much better, c4 looks very weak

Funny - isn't it. Both Adams and Short would have expected to win fairly easily around move 25 or so but all credit to Jones and Williamsm for making it really difficult.

I think the point of Shorts play is the threat of Qf6

I thought the same, but maybe Hunt is trying to do something with the two passers against one.
BTW, those looking for more live games, there is a second page. Page numbers 1 and 2 are up in the top left corner. Easy to miss when earlier all the live boards had been on one page. Or maybe not. It seems to be the same games. Maybe it is spreading the server load in some way?

Hunt's King's quite badly placed though and his position looks fragmented. Definitely some work to do but I think White will win that.

Nice to see how Short has got his Queen optimally placed before bringing his King in on the white squares.

Hmm if Short walks his King to d7 the Qxc5 somebody mentioned may actually occur!
