Rapid grades - ?
Doesn't the ECF produce new rapid grades every six months?
Does that mean they're due out soon ---- anyone know when exactly?
Btw I assume the 'old' grades will be used this time.

"Your next revised lists will be in late(ish) January to go with the published January RP grades. The online list won't be revised till then."
Hope that helps?

HALFYEAR RAPIDPLAY LISTS
Since January 2007 the ECF has calculated and published Rapidplay Grades every six months. The Rapidplay Categories are based on 12-month periods as usual. For the July list this means 1st June to 31st May as with Standardplay. For the January (half year) list it means 1st December to 30th November. An exception is the new X Category, which is based on 6 months only (at least 30 games in the latest half-year). This is the highest category.

Thanks. I thought I might have gone up rather a lot; it turns out, I've gone up one point!Carl Hibbard wrote:I placed it on live this morningTomChivers wrote:Doesn't the ECF produce new rapid grades every six months?

Re: Rapid grades - ?
Well I've gained 13 points without playing a single game. What's happened is that a poor result from September 2005 has dropped out of the calculations, leaving just 3 reasonably decent 5 round performances from March/April 2006/7/8.Thanks. I thought I might have gone up rather a lot; it turns out, I've gone up one point!
I've thought for a while that the Clarke methodology doesn't translate that well to rapidplay because rapidplay is mostly tournament based. Under an Elo calculation method, the strange anomaly of a 13 point gain without playing just doesn't happen.

Tom, all those victories over me in the Stoneleigh trophy won't be included until the summer grades.TomChivers wrote:Thanks. I thought I might have gone up rather a lot; it turns out, I've gone up one point!

It's also that I thought it would be the new grades, and my record keeping for rapid games isn't so good.

Re: Rapid grades - ?
I've gone up from 119 to 127 without playing a single game since the last publication in the summer. I think it has more to do with the fact that although the rapid grades are published every 6 months they are still based on the previous year's results. My new grade will be 158!!
