Is this idea for training sessions totally dumb?
Two people select 12 positions between them. They analyse them at home.
On the training night, each person then selects 2 of those positions to play out at rapid play, 15 mins each. That makes 4 positions to play out in an evening, which should last about 2 hours.
With suitable positions, this might be a valuable exercise.
Or a total waste of time.

Re: Training sessions
It sounds like a good way to learn new openings, if the positions are carefully chosen and players put in the work on the theory before they have to play the games out.

Definitely the former, I’d say. It’s very similar to what Axel Smith suggests for technical endgame study in Pump up Your Rating.stevencarr wrote: With suitable positions, this might be a valuable exercise.
