Chess book talks and tours

Do many chess book authors give talks about their books? I'm asking because I was lucky enough to be able to organise an event along these lines last week, see here:

It was a very enjoyable evening, but not something that seems to happen very often. Is this sort of thing more common than I'm thinking, or was it more common in the past for events like this to be held?
