Re: ECF Finance Meeting
Given that, given the costs, any Junior Bronze or Silver will renew at £6 rather than Supporter at £5 (but I still think 10% is optimistic, until we start playing OTB again) that means well over 1/3 (edit: 35.33%) of all Adults who are not renewing Fully need to renew as Supporters to get the new 2,750 supporters budgeted!Ian Thompson wrote: ↑Sat Jul 18, 2020 11:05 amI think you might reasonably ask why the Finance Director's report doesn't consider the worst case scenario in the Membership Director's report on predicted renewals, which is that net membership income, after deduction of VAT, drops to just under £50K.
A "worst case" that assumes over 50% of members will renew in one form or another is, in the current circumstances, not very "worst case" in my humble opinion.
In the scheme of things, I'd have been offering free Silver renewals for all existing Bronze/Silver Juniors (to keep them engaged, or at least "on-books"), and Adult Bronze/Silver for £10/£15 respectively for this year. Supporter gives you nothing in return, and once a member is lost, it is harder to regain them

you should be able to upgrade from a Supporter to either Bronze/silver/Gold etcAndrewBanks wrote: ↑Sat Jul 18, 2020 2:29 pmGiven that, given the costs, any Junior Bronze or Silver will renew at £6 rather than Supporter at £5 (but I still think 10% is optimistic, until we start playing OTB again) that means well over 1/3 (edit: 35.33%) of all Adults who are not renewing Fully need to renew as Supporters to get the new 2,750 supporters budgeted!Ian Thompson wrote: ↑Sat Jul 18, 2020 11:05 amI think you might reasonably ask why the Finance Director's report doesn't consider the worst case scenario in the Membership Director's report on predicted renewals, which is that net membership income, after deduction of VAT, drops to just under £50K.

They have upgraded it from offering nothing to being given the right to enter ECF and some other online events.AndrewBanks wrote: ↑Sat Jul 18, 2020 2:29 pmSupporter gives you nothing in return, and once a member is lost, it is harder to regain them
It was established about a month ago that "Supporter" can be upgraded.

The only thing that has surprised me so far is Malcolm's announcement he found 100% sponsorship for a full strength Olympiad team

Yes, of course, though the sponsorship is I believe for the *online* Olympiad.John Reyes wrote: ↑Sat Jul 18, 2020 3:27 pmAngus are you ok with thisPaul Cooksey wrote: ↑Sat Jul 18, 2020 3:17 pmThe only thing that has surprised me so far is Malcolm's announcement he found 100% sponsorship for a full strength Olympiad team

Indeed, the only Olympiad that there is as far as I know.
We've been discussing covid19 challenges specifically for the last few minutes, although I suspect members of this forum already familiar with the points made.

There is also the traditional one which, last I knew, was postponed until Summer 2021, to be held somewhere in Russia. I assumed this is what the budgeted international expenditure was for.Paul Cooksey wrote: ↑Sat Jul 18, 2020 4:00 pmIndeed, the only Olympiad that there is as far as I know.

Hopefully the meeting recorded their thanks to Malcolm for this. Excellent work, particularly in the current climate.John Reyes wrote: ↑Sat Jul 18, 2020 3:27 pmAngus are you ok with thisPaul Cooksey wrote: ↑Sat Jul 18, 2020 3:17 pmThe only thing that has surprised me so far is Malcolm's announcement he found 100% sponsorship for a full strength Olympiad team

Is it planned to revert to even numbered years afterwards?Angus French wrote: ↑Sat Jul 18, 2020 8:24 pmThere is also the traditional one which, last I knew, was postponed until Summer 2021, to be held somewhere in Russia.
