Fischer auction

Post by John Moore » Sat Jun 13, 2009 7:03 pm

Slightly strange that the Fischer auction in New York only made $61,000 (see ChessBase) Would have thought that there would be more interest.

Yeah, there was some interesting stuff there too, particularly the original manuscript of ‘My 60 Memorable Games’ and a huge collection of rare Chess books. I wonder what happened to his famous red dossier on all known Spassky games, prepared for him by Bob Wade - it didn’t seem to be among the items.

I can confirm that Bob Wade's dossier for Fischer for the Candidates matches and the World Championship match with Boris Spassky is all there. The unmistakable index cards in Bob's hand are all initialed "RGW". I aided Rex Sinquefield and his team in St. Louis in the purchase of this collection - it has gone to a good home of a dedicated Fischer fan, and I'm sure he will find a way to make available to the public (both online and live) and not just for the private viewing of a small clique of collectors.
