Carl has said the ECF made a formal request to have my posting of the ECF's information on facilities for spectators at the candidates removed. If this is not the case then please say so and I will repost the ECF's information for the benefit of ecf members and chess players in general.

My apologies for not making myself clear. How can you be sure what the ECF said? Did you email the ECF? Did you ask what information the ECF had?

The question asked was quoted here as was the Office's reply. The ECF then made a formal request for that information to be removed. Did you? What was the email address of the member concerned Matthew?

You are being disingenuous saying that I suggested that you get an ECF member to email the office. What I actually suggested was that you email the ECF office and quote your ECF membership number when doing so.

I believe the ECF office are still waiting.

I believe the sequence of events to have been
(a) Matthew emailed the ECF Office and got a prompt reply. On the grounds that it's a question about chess in England, there wouldn't seem a justification for checking his membership status before replying.
(b) Matthew quoted the reply here verbatim
(c) (Conjecture) Someone at the ECF objected and asked Carl/Jack to remove the direct quote
(d) Matthew posted a precis.

With new websites appearing daily, what is known about the match and spectator facilities could change daily. As the FIDE affiliate in the UK, the ECF is more likely than most to be asked whether it has non-public information about the Candidates. When the reply was written, it was apparent (to the Office at least) that it had no more information than was available to the wider public.

(edit) It now appears that someone emailed the ECF on Matthew's behalf. But that leads to another question. If a member of the public, not an ECF member, emails or writes to the ECF Office on an issue concerning chess in England, does the Office decline to reply? (/edit)

The term chesscasting comes up in this report from last October

This promised all sorts of innovative coverage. Whether any of this exists in usable form remains to be seen. Is it plausible the FIDE's initiative is an emergency set up using tried and tested methods? The lack of credit given to SOCAR is a little strange, if they are part or all of the financing.

The question was actually about what the ECF had done in respect of its offer to members.

"If you (or someone else within the ECF) has checked out the arrangements for spectators at the Candidates then I'd be grateful if he'd let us know. They don't seem to appear anywhere else."

On that basis it seems reasonable that the person asking should be a member.

Pragmatically, if attending the event live requires organising a trip to London, knowing what to expect is a pre-requisite. How extensive or limited the spectator facilities will be remains unknown and will probably remain so until those who have purchased first day tickets get a chance to report.
