Attended this today, and it was terrific to see 130+ juniors from over 30 different primary schools from Bristol and the surrounding areas enjoying a day's chess, many of whom were playing in their first tournament.

Robert Chandler, Pete Saunders, Chris Beaumont, Geoff Gammon, and everyone else (apologies if I've forgotten anyone) working with the Chess in Schools charity in Bristol deserve a huge amount of praise for the work they've put in and the results that have been forthcoming from their efforts. Equally it would be remiss of me not to thank the Bristol City Council for their support for the CSC work, which is much appreciated.

Don't mention this guy to Geoff - I hear he gets VERY angry when he sees someone else with his surname (I think it is from years of being mistaken for another Chandler in England)!

Was the event to be graded? Presumably it didn't require ECF membership.

Did it have to pay for its entry in the ECF Calendar?

Hi Roger,

no, it didn't, and I don't know.

Please don't use this thread to start another discussion about membership. I think there's been quite enough already.
