Massacre by Mickey, but Gawain's game looks very insipid, cannot see anything other than a draw there.
Re: Tromso World Cup 2013
Horrible way to go for Wan- one slip in the opening and he's out. Still, good news for England/ Adams. Looks like Negi next up for him, unless Kryvoruchko came produce some magic in a very stale opposite- bishops middle game.
Re: Tromso World Cup 2013
For Gawain, his potential opponent is Lou/ Kamsky. 3 draws so far, and maybe a slight edge for Kamsky so far in game 4.

Re: Tromso World Cup 2013
Gawain's match seems to be heading for this:
a match of 2 games shall be played to determine the winner with a time control of 10 minutes plus 10 seconds increment after each move. In case of a level score, another match of 2 games shall be played with a time control of 5 minutes plus 3 seconds increment after each move. If still there is no winner, one sudden-death game will be played as described below in 3.8.3a.

I was happy to see his opponent liquidate with a3 rather than keeping the two bishops.Thomas Rendle wrote:Gawain's match seems to be heading for this:

Negi's in a wee bit of trouble, so Adams' next round opponent is still in the balance.

Wojtaszek (2701) is out.

Ushenina just went from +4 to -1 what a shame and then she missed a mate in one

Vicious trick by Radjabov to level.
Would expect Kamsky to win from here too.

Re: Tromso World Cup 2013
Kryvoruchko has somewhat impressively (although I think Negi could've played quite a bit better) got a winning position, so it looks like another round of tie-breaks at least before Adams knows who's next up for him.

I'm no endings expert, but can Lou hold this?
