And there appear to be no pieces in the centre of the board. And there is, apparently, 5 pawns on what would be the b-file if the board was the right way round. If I was (*) the ECF Director of Marketing or even the ECF Press Officer I would be seeking an interview with UKIP.

This is a golden opportunity to publicise girls and women's chess. If someone does not grab this it will be a crying shame.

I expect the ECF Board is aware of the desirability of having a Press Officer.
The great problm is finding somebody who is good at this task. I have only ever come across one really good one and he was not found from the chess family. It used to be much easier to place chess stories in the public eye.
