Maybe it's just me, but I am afraid Chess 960 does nothing for me at all
And this stuff about "reams of opening theory" in regular chess is over-rated IMO - opening novelties at a relatively early stage are being unearthed even now (even in ultra-analysed systems like the Najdorf Sicilian and Semi-Slav)
Remember, "normal" chess was supposed to be "played out" in the 1920s, then the 1950s, and then........
It will never happen (not in any of our lifetimes anyway) and amen to that
