Quite astonishing isn't it. God knows how long it has taken me to add up all of the 637 posts you have made, let alone read them.

Or possibly to eat and drink all the stuff he has mentioned in them.Andrew Martin wrote:Quite astonishing isn't it. God knows how long it has taken me to add up all of the 637 posts you have made, let alone read them.

Amazing things, computers. I understand that counting is one of their particular strengths.9 Roger de Coverly Tue Apr 15, 2008 1:51 pm 9999

Perhaps Jools Holland would be prepared to host a RDdeC special complete with the customary 10-9-8... countdown from the Elizabeth Tower and subsequent celebratory fireworks?Andrew Martin wrote:Waiting breathlessly for Roger's 10,000th post giving advice about the train ticket.
I fear I will miss this event this evening but I will be with you in spirit.
Just what will the subject of the 10,000th post?
Will Australian & Japanese viewers see the post first?

Like many other chess luminaries, Roger would enjoy analysing Biafran Spade bidding sequences in detail. The sequence : One Spade (0-6) DOUBLE ( in a loud voice) Redouble (A quivering partner shows 0-4 in reply) might well take a further 10,000, if not 15,000 further posts.

Hahaha. I can think of no finer way to tell the opponents they have values for a slam without going above the one-level.Andrew Martin wrote:Like many other chess luminaries, Roger would enjoy analysing Biafran Spade bidding sequences in detail. Even Mestel would need a calculator to add up the penalties.

I also had noted that Roger De Coverly was nearing his 10000th post, but others have beaten me to it. I do bot think I have ever met the guy, but I think he has done well to play over 100 games a year and also run a chess league.
By clicking on members and then posts then one can view the list of posters in ascending or descending order, and I have done that on a few occasions, although I have not lost any sleep about losing my place in the top 100.

I just did that and found in 100th place was CJ De Mooi and in 200th Andrew Paulson. Spooky.

Not sure I like being in the top ten on this list. But maybe some others have had some past history wiped? I should have thought that Loz joined before December 2011, and most definitely Sean before March 2012!
(Mind you, I can see how I have amassed such a high number. Was there really any point to this post? None whatsoever)

I'm 20th - 46 posts behind 'Jocund' - Geoff Chandler.
Correction 45 posts behind 'Jocund' now!
Edit: 44 posts and we should be level.

Yes, both Loz and Sean have a large number of posts made under previous accounts not counted. Andrew Martin too.......Jonathan Rogers wrote:Not sure I like being in the top ten on this list. Re: Emergency Board Meeting - Draft Minutes
I recall a poster on another forum I used to frequent making quite a song and dance in his 10,000th post there, including the announcement of his posting retirement.
However, the moderators shortly after undertook some tidying up of that particular forum, deleting some old threads and at a stroke knocking several hundred posts off his count. Everyone else found it quite amusing (and the particular poster had to make a comeback).
